About the opportunity
A leading established retailer is looking for a Magento Developer to help develop and improve its eCommerce platform. You will work on customer-facing features, integrations and ongoing platform improvements, with a focus on performance, reliability and a smooth shopping experience. This role suits a developer with at least two years of hands-on Magento 2 experience.
What you will do
- Build, maintain and improve features on a Magento 2 eCommerce platform.
- Develop and customise modules, themes and integrations.
- Investigate bugs and deliver reliable fixes.
- Improve site performance, usability and the checkout experience.
- Integrate the platform with third-party services and internal systems.
- Write maintainable code, contribute to code reviews and support testing and releases.
- Work with commercial and technical colleagues to turn requirements into solutions.
Essential skills
- At least two years of commercial Magento 2 development experience.
- Strong PHP and object-oriented programming skills.
- Experience with Magento 2 modules, dependency injection, plugins and observers.
- Working knowledge of MySQL, Git and Composer.
- Experience building or consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.
- Confidence debugging issues across the application and its integrations.
- Understanding of eCommerce journeys, from product discovery through to checkout.
Useful experience
- Adobe Commerce, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
- Hyva Themes, PWA Studio or other modern Magento front ends.
- Payment, shipping, ERP or CRM integrations.
- Performance optimisation, caching, search, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Working in a retail business or on a high-traffic eCommerce site.
